I refer to the current development of the "Vista Estate" north of Mandurah in the City of Rockingham and ask what is proposed to address the safety concerns about the Catalina Drive/Mandurah Road intersection and, if nothing is proposed, why not?

The Lakelands Developer, Peet and Co, is required to construct new signalised accesses to Mandurah Road at Lake Valley Drive and Banksiadale Gate (opposite Madora Bay Road). These new access points will both greatly reduce the traffic volume on Catalina Drive and alleviate the need for traffic signals at that location.
The new signalised access at Lake Valley Drive is only 400 metres north of Catalina Drive. The developer is required to complete this access by December 2016, however, they are planning for this to be completed as early as December 2015. It is also anticipated that the new signalised access at Banksiadale Gate will be completed later this year.
