(1) Is the minister aware of the reports of sly grogging - that is, bringing grog in for resale - taking place at Fitzroy Crossing? (2) What action is the minister taking to assist the police in determining a reasonable amount for personal use when stopping vehicles in the vicinity of Fitzroy Crossing in their efforts to stamp out the practice of sly grogging? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Yes, I am aware of the media reports on this matter. (2) The police service enforces section 109 of the Liquor Control Act, which precludes the sale of liquor by any person who is not the holder of a licence or permit. The act does not make reference to what may be considered a reasonable amount of liquor for personal use.
