102. Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the decision to use
public sector sterilisation staff at Fiona Stanley Hospital as a result of SercoXXX ###XXXs failure to fulfil its obligations under the
services contract.
(1) Are fines payable by Serco for
its failure to provide this service?
(2) If yes to (1), what is the total
fine to be imposed on Serco?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) What is the estimated cost for
the services to be provided by the state?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3) It is yet to be determined as the reporting
cycle for the month of February has not concluded.
(4) At present, the estimated weekly cost for the
state-provided staff is approximately $4 800 a week.
