(1) I have asked the chief Executive Officer of WorkSafe Western Australia and the Executive Director of Workcover to consider ways to improve information collected and reported on work-related fatalities in Western Australia. This involves comparing records of traumatic work-related fatalities maintained by WorkSafe Western Australia with claims for fatalities reported to WorkCover by approved insurers and self-insurers. My aim is to achieve a more complete picture of occupational fatalities in Western Australia and to this end the scope of those included in the data bases will continue to be examined.
