I refer to the waitlist times for bariatric surgery and ask: (a) how many people on the waitlist for bariatric surgery, at the time the guidelines were changed, were over 55 years of age; and (b) what was the average wait time per quarter, from January 2010 to now, for people waiting to have a pre-surgical assessment appointment before bariatric surgery?

Note: * means incomplete June 2013 data.
Notes:
1. Waiting Time is defined as the period from referral received date to date of first appointment.
2. Median is reported rather than mean as it is the standard measure used in reporting of waiting times and it removes the effect of outlier cases.
3. Not all patients who had a first appointment at a clinic with a specialty of bariatric are necessarily added to the elective surgery waiting list.
4. The patients identified for the calculation of the median are only those who attended the so-described Bariatric Clinics.
