KIMBERLEY FLOODS — DISASTER RECOVERY FUNDING
ARRANGEMENTS
1096. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency
Services:
I
refer to Legislative Council question on notice 1508 answered on 12 September
2023 regarding category C and D disaster recovery funding assistance in
relation to the Kimberley floods and tropical cyclone Ilsa.
(1) Noting that
20 applications for funding assistance had been received as of 11 August 2023,
why were no applications approved or funds dispersed?
(2) Given that
the primary producer recovery grants and the small and medium business recovery
grants each allow an initial $15 000 to be released immediately without the
need to wait for reimbursement, why has this funding not been dispersed?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Grant
applications must be assessed against eligibility criteria and appropriate
evidence collected before applications can be approved. As of 11 August 2023,
the eligibility assessment for applications received was still under way.
(2) Claim
evidence such as quotations, invoices and official receipts are required before
funding is dispersed. As of 11 August 2023, claim evidence was yet to be
submitted by grant applicants.
