CHILD SEXUAL OFFENDER —
SENTENCE — IAN THORNTON
816. Mr P.A. KATSAMBANIS to the Attorney General:
I refer to Ian Thornton, who was
found guilty of four counts of indecently assaulting a child under the age of
16 and jailed in 2014 and subsequently released. Can the Attorney General
confirm to the house that this child sex offender was in breach of his release
conditions when he was found on the grounds of Bunbury Primary School on a school
day, that he spent three weeks staying in accommodation that overlooked the
school and that the magistrate still refused to lock him up for his breach?

I
have not seen the magistrate's decision on that matter but I will take
the question on notice and get back to the member.
