I refer to the urban renewal of Withers, and I ask: (a) what is the current status of the new structure plan for Withers; (b) why was the Department of Housing asked to undertake a structure plan for Withers only to be told, after it engaged a consultant, to put that process on hold pending the development of a local area plan; (c) why is a local area plan considered necessary; (d) what is the estimated cost of preparing a local area plan; (e) how is the local area plan being funded; and (f) what is the expected completion date for the local area plan?

(a) A new structure plan is not being prepared for Withers.
(b) Advice received suggested a whole of suburb local area plan was the  most appropriate planning instrument.
(c) To ensure an integrated examination of roads, paths and underutilised land areas is considered in the context of existing uses.
(d) Up to $100 000.
(e) Funding is being provided by the South West Development  Commission.
(f)  30 June 2015.
