(a) The function of undertaking works and providing facilities within the management area does not rest with the Swan River Trust alone. The Trust is working with the City of South Perth to assess the feasibility of removing sections of river wall to encourage reestablishment of beaches and the requirements to maintain the remaining walls.
The Swan River Trust and the City of South Perth are currently developing concept plans for consideration.
(b) $125,000 in Riverbank Program funding will be provided to local government in 2003/04 for foreshore restoration and protection work within the management area.
(c) The claim, made against the City of South Perth, the Department of Transport and the Swan River Trust, was settled out of court. In the absence of a court decision, the outcome does not clarify the responsibilities of the respective parties.
(d) I am happy to provide the Parliament with the projects that are to be funded in 2003/04 under the Swan River Trust’s Riverbank Program when they become available.
