269. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the McGowan government's
increased penalties for drink and drug driving, introduced on 1 July 2021.
(1) Since its
introduction, how many drivers have been charged under the new offence for
having both drugs and alcohol in their system?
(2) How many drug
and alcohol driving offences were recorded in the 12-month period from 1 July
2020 to 30 June 2021?
(3) How many drug
and alcohol driving offences were recorded in the 12-month period from 1 July
2021 to 30 June 2022 under the new penalties?
