Main Roads—Streetlight outages
809. Hon Julie Freeman to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the
streetlight outages caused by copper cable theft and the subsequent
installation of lockable pits to reinstate the lighting.
(1) How are roads being prioritised within this
program?
(2) Noting that the highest-volume transport
routes, including the Kwinana Freeway and Tonkin Highway, are being addressed
first, have works on these routes commenced?
(3) When is it expected that lighting on these
routes will be fully restored?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) Main Roads Western Australia prioritises
cable replacement based on several factors, including traffic volume, length of
road affected, crash history and road type. Works to reinstate lighting have
commenced and will be completed as soon as practicable.
