I thank the Member for his Question and his ongoing interest in cybersecurity matters.
The information requested by the Member in his Question is, in its totality, confidential because it provides a broad assessment of the relative cyber-security preparedness of individual agencies. If publicly released, such information may be misused for malicious purposes.
Specifically, providing information regarding cyber security either at agency level or whole of government may draw attention from those whose interests are to exploit government vulnerabilities to access information and/or bring down services. This can have wide reaching impacts that leads to reputational damage of agencies and undermines the public’s confidence in government’s ability to manage and adequately protect information.
