FOETAL
HOMICIDE LAWS — DRAFTING PROGRESS
541. Hon KATE DOUST to the
Attorney General:
In May and September of 2013 I asked the Attorney General
questions about when he would seek to introduce foetal homicide laws into the
Parliament. At that time the Attorney General responded by saying —
I intend to chase it up to see
that it can be introduced at the earliest possible opportunity.
It has been seven months since the Attorney General
responded. Can the Attorney General please explain to the house the progress he
has made and when those bills will be introduced to the Parliament?

I thank the member for the question.
I have received a draft cabinet submission regarding those
laws. I have not been satisfied with aspects of the approach that has been
taken and have asked for further work to be done on the subject.
