Further to Question on Notice No. 471 of Tuesday, March 12 2002, when I asked -
‘(1) How many active inspectors have been employed in the DEP for policing pollution licenses in the Perth metropolitan region for each of the last five years?
(2) How many ‘solid waste’ inspectors have been employed in the DEP for each of the last five years?’
(1) Why did the Minister fail to supply the required information for each of the last five years?
(2) Will the Minister now answer these questions?

(2) As stated previously, the DEP has advised the Minister that there are: 5 inspectors and 1 project officer in the Pollution Response Branch, who cover the Perth metropolitan, Kimberley and Wheatbelt areas. 11 inspectors in the Licensing Section, who cover the Perth metropolitan, Kimberley and Wheatbelt area and five inspectors based in the Kwinana office to cover the Kwinana area. There are no dedicated solid waste inspectors, the function is spread across the existing resources in Licensing and Pollution Response. 4 Liquid Waste inspectors in the Controlled Waste Section, who cover the Perth metropolitan area.
