Report (as at 12 February 2015) , tabled on Thursday 26 February 2015, and ask in
relation to the new position Director Strategic Communications: (a) did a Ministerial Merit Panel endorse or
approve the new position; (b) if yes to (a): (i) on what date was this approval or endorsement
given; and (ii) who are the members of the Merit Panel that
approved or endorsed the new position; (c) if the creation of the new position was not
endorsed or approved by a Ministerial Merit Panel, was the decision taken
solely by the Premier; and (d) if no to (c) who else other than the Premier was
involved in the decision to create the new position?

(ii) The Ministerial Merit Panel comprises senior officers from the Department of the Premier and Cabinet. The Ministerial Merit Panel has existed for many years and is the same process that was used by the former government to assess appointment and remuneration matters for ministerial officers. If the Honourable Member would like these public servants named, he is encouraged to submit a freedom of information application so that the appropriate consultation under the Act can be made.
