METROPOLITAN REGION SCHEME AMENDMENT 1210/41
1020. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the minister
representing the Minister for Planning:
(1) What is the current status of
the metropolitan region scheme major amendment 1210/41?
(2) When is it expected that this
amendment will be finalised?
(3) Why is finalisation taking so
long?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) Public
consultation and hearings have been conducted on the proposed amendment. The
Western Australian Planning Commission recently considered the outcomes of
these processes.
(2) The amendment is yet to come to
the minister for consideration.
(3) The
amendment is complex, given the large geographical extent, heritage matters,
technical detail and the number of local government areas. Amendments to
regional road reservations typically take several years from initiation to the
amendment becoming effective.
