CRIMINAL INJURIES
COMPENSATION ACT — EX GRATIA PAYMENTS
828. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the parliamentary secretary representing
the Attorney General:
I refer to the Criminal Injuries
Compensation Act and to an old press release of the Lawrence Labor government,
dated 19 January 1993 and titled ''Claims about ex-gratia compensation
payment nonsense''.
(1) Is the power to make ex gratia
payments under the act still available to the Attorney General?
(2) What ex gratia payments have
been made under the act in this term of government?
