828. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the parliamentary secretary representing
the Attorney General:
I refer to the Criminal Injuries
Compensation Act and to an old press release of the Lawrence Labor government,
dated 19 January 1993 and titled ''Claims about ex-gratia compensation
payment nonsense''.
(1) Is the power to make ex gratia
payments under the act still available to the Attorney General?
(2) What ex gratia payments have
been made under the act in this term of government?

provided to me by the Attorney General.
(1)–(2) The Criminal
Injuries Compensation Act 2003 does not deal with the making of ex gratia
payments.
