(2) No, assessment of all of the remnant native vegetation on private land or freehold for each non metropolitan local government area within the south west land division has not been undertaken. Some analysis of the areas remaining of the pre-European extent on all tenures and within World Conservation Union class I-IV reserves, other reserves and in pastoral leases managed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management by vegetation association have been undertaken and are presented in Native Vegetation in Western Australia. Extent, Type and Status. (Resource Management Technical Report 249 D.P. Shepherd, G.R. Beeston and A.J.M. Hopkins, Department of Agriculture February 2002). There are numerous published and unpublished assessment and inspection reports for remnant vegetation, both in terms of individual areas and more broadly. If the Member has any specific location in mind, further details can be provided. (3) Some assessment of remnant vegetation is planned in the development of accredited regional strategies by regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) groups as part of proposals under the Natural Heritage Trust and the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality. Each regional NRM group will be undertaking some assessment in producing its regional strategy. Individual assessments are also undertaken for specific purposes including developments, clearing proposals and in the course of programs such as voluntary conservation covenanting and Land for Wildlife, and programs run by organisations such as Greening Australia (Western Australia) and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
