CYBERSECURITY
— HAZARD MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
1353. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the Minister for Innovation and
the Digital Economy:
I refer to the minister's
announcement of January 2023 that the government is developing a hazard
management framework for significant cybersecurity crises.
(1) When will this framework be
completed?
(2) Will
cybersecurity crises be considered a hazard for the purposes of the state
emergency management framework?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The state
government is progressing the emergency management framework for cybersecurity
incidents. The Department of the Premier and
Cabinet is currently consulting with stakeholders to draft a state hazard plan for cybersecurity for consideration by the State Emergency Management
Committee.
(2) The viability
of introducing cybersecurity as a hazard in the emergency management
arrangements for Western Australia will be considered as a part of this
process.
