Mr. Katsambanis questions the Premier about alleged preferential treatment towards the CPSU-CSA regarding wages, compared to the WA Police Union. WAGES POLICY —
COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SECTOR UNION–CIVIL SERVICE ASSOCIATION
517. Mr P.A. KATSAMBANIS to the Premier:
I refer to the Community and Public
Sector Union–Civil Service Association of WA wage deal and the statement
on its website, and I quote —
 the conditions achieved in this
offer absolutely break Wages Policy.
Why is the government willing to
break its own wages policy for its union mates, but is not willing to provide a
fair pay offer to frontline police officers, who put their lives on the line
every single day?

Just so I am very clear with people,
the $1 000 pay increase is consistent across the public sector, with the
exception of the people who are elected to Parliament, judges and senior public
servants, for whom there is a pay freeze for four years. It is the same pay
offer in terms of financial amounts across the entire public sector. As we did
last time, at the start of this wages policy, we negotiated with various unions
about what issues they would like to see resolved and what we could do within
manageable financial parameters to resolve and improve the workplace for a range
of people across the public sector. We continue to do that with the WA Police
Union; there is ongoing discussion and negotiation with that union. We have
done that with the CPSU–CSA, and we have reached this outcome. I urge
and I hope that members of the CPSU–CSA who work in the public sector
and do a terrific job across Western Australia support the arrangement we have
put forward.
