I refer to the Education and Care Regulatory Unit, and I ask: (a) how many childcare services are located in the South West; (b) how many childcare services in the South West have achieved a quality rating under the National Quality Framework; (c) how many childcare services in the South West are meeting the national quality standards; (d) in each of 2014 and 2015 to date, how many childcare services in the South West sought waivers under the National Quality
Framework for staffing requirements ; (e) is the Senior Assessment Officer located in Bunbury responsible for the assessment, rating, provision of support and provision of advice to all childcare services in the South West; (f) in each of 2014 and 2015 to date, how many of each of the following did the Senior Assessment Officer in Bunbury complete: (i) assessment and rating of a childcare services under the National Quality Framework; (ii) proactive educative visits to childcare services; (iii) investigations of compliance issues; (iv) monitoring activities; and (v) responses to requests for support and/or advice from a childcare service; and (g) what is the geographical area that falls under the responsibility of the Senior Assessment Officer located in Bunbury?

(b) Twenty eight services have been assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards. The distribution of ratings is five Exceeding National Quality Standard, 12 Meeting National Quality Standard and 11 Working Toward National Quality Standard.
(c) Refer to (b) above.
(d) Twenty six staffing waivers were requested in 2014 and, to date, 16 staffing waivers have been requested in 2015 by childcare services in the South West.
(e) No. The Senior Assessment Officers in Bunbury are supported by the metropolitan based officers and jointly responsible for the assessment, rating, provision of support and advice to all childcare services in the South West.
Since the end of August 2015, two Senior Assessment Officers have been located in the Bunbury office. The Senior Assessment Officers located in Bunbury also conduct visits to other regional areas as needed.

(iv) The term monitoring activities is too broad to report on. It might include telephone, email or other correspondence, visits in addition to those listed above, etc.

(g) Generally speaking, the Bunbury officers cover an area from south of Mandurah to Augusta and east to West Arthur Shire. However, officers from Perth also undertake visits to services in the Bunbury area and respond to requests for support or advice from the Bunbury areas. Officers from the Northam and Albany areas will also assist if they are nearer to the service which may border their areas.
