I refer to the Tourism WA discussion paper entitled, ‘Tourism 2020 - A Chance to Have Your Say’, dated February 2008, and I ask -
(1) As the community consultation process ended on 30 May 2008, does Tourism WA still plan to release a policy document outlining Western Australia’s tourism strategy to 2020?
(2) If yes to (1), when will the Minister release Tourism WA’s strategy to build the tourism industry to 2020?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) If yes to (1), will the Tourism 2020 plan outline a vision for the industry based on an assessment of Western Australia’s competitive advantages in the global tourism marketplace?
(5) What has Tourism WA identified as being Western Australia’s competitive advantages in the global tourism marketplace?
(6) If yes to (1), will the Tourism 2020 strategic plan outline both qualitative and quantitative targets based on increasing the economic contribution of the tourism industry to the Western Australian economy, and will those targets form the basis of Tourism WA’s future Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)?
(7) Will the Minister admit that under her stewardship, our state’s peak tourism body has lost its way and currently has no clear vision for the future of the industry, just like the Minister herself?
