GOVERNMENT REGIONAL OFFICERS' HOUSING — FORECAST SAVINGS
767. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for Education:
I refer to the Government Regional
Officers' Housing.
(1) What are the expected savings
for GROH for the 2016–17 year?
(2) Will the minister please provide
a breakdown of the savings?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
Department of Education is unable to forecast savings for Government Regional
Officers' Housing due to the high degree of variability in
accommodation requirements over the course of the year. For example, it is
possible that three teachers will leave a school on short notice, resulting in
no rental collection for those properties and the department is then required
to bear the cost. Factors such as location, number and type of required
properties influence costs to the department.
