In relation to the Shire of Carnarvon and a number of shopkeepers who have suffered both financial loss and property damage as a result of Shire roadworks in the main street of Carnarvon, I ask:
(a) are there avenues available to the shopkeepers to seek compensation from the Shire for their losses; and
(b) if yes, what are those avenues and how are they initiated?

(a)  Yes.
(b) They can submit a claim for compensation to the Shire. If the Shire does not accept liability, they have the option of taking legal action.
