I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The Western Australian
government has successfully negotiated a cooperation agreement with the
Australian government, as announced earlier today, to deliver, and sustain
Australia's future defence capabilities. Further discussion is expected
to take place to understand the state's whole-of-government approach
for both implementation and delivery as the commonwealth shares details of its
plan.
(2) The
commonwealth continues to consult with key Western Australian stakeholders to
ensure coordination on projects of significance
for the state. The cooperation agreement signed today, 16 October 2024, between the Australian and Western Australian governments further confirms the
commonwealth and state's intent to work collaboratively and coordinate
scheduling of key projects, including Westport.
