I thank the member for Joondalup, who has been vigorously pursuing this issue. The City of Joondalup has recently completed a study on parking at the Joondalup city centre, which includes the train station. Following that, there have been discussions between the City of Joondalup and the Western Australian Government Railways Commission in relation to the ways in which parking might be improved. The City of Joondalup has now prepared a draft proposal which would provide commuter parking at Collier Pass. That draft is currently being discussed with the WAGR, and the City of Joondalup is checking the number of parking bays that could be provided, compared with the demand for bays, prior to a formal proposal being submitted to the WAGR. I can advise the member for Joondalup that the Government has allocated $1 million in 2003 for the provision of additional parking for rail users at Joondalup.
