Griffin Coal—Grant
25. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for State Development:
I refer to the Cook
government's extraordinary $260 million taxpayer-funded bailout of the
insolvent and foreign-owned Griffin Coal company. As at 7 April 2024:
(1) How much fiscal drawdown of the $260 million
"grant" has been directed to or received by the receivers,
liquidators and managers of the insolvent Griffin Coal?
(2) On what dates did
the drawdowns occur, what were the specific amounts and for what specific
purpose or service rendered?
(3) Have workers at Griffin Coal been offered or
paid a retention bonus of $10,000 or any other figure in the last six months,
and if so, when and what was the amount?
(4) If yes to (3), how much of the funding of the
retention bonuses came from the government's grant to the receivers,
liquidators and managers of Griffin Coal?
