(1) Why were
WA Police unable to provide a copy of the Australia Post contract for firearms

General for the purpose of this audit?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The Minister for Police advises —
(1) At the
time of the Office of the Auditor General review, WA Police was unable to
immediately supply a copy of the Australia Post contract. However, a copy was
subsequently sourced and provided to the Office of the Auditor General within a
week of the review.
(2) The
current cost to WA Police for Australia Post to process an application for an
original firearm licence application for over-the-counter payment services is
$46.65, including GST. In addition, Australia Post also charges WA Police a fee
of approximately $2.00, including GST for data transfer and printing of the
licence.
