FORESTCHECK — FAUNA SPECIES
MONITORING
386. Hon GIZ WATSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
Which fauna species listed as threatened under the
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 are being
monitored via Forestcheck?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
A crosscheck of fauna species listed as threatened under the
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 shows that the
following species have been recorded during the Forestcheck monitoring project.
I might add that the Latin name sits beside all these. I asked the Minister for
Environment to give me a quick check on how to say these words, but I will
leave it to the written word. They are the woylie, or Bettongia penicillata ; the chuditch, or Dasyurus geoffroii ; Carnaby's cockatoo, or Calyptorhynchus latirostris ; the forest
red-tailed black cockatoo, or Calyptorhynchus
banksii ; and Baudin' s cockatoo, or Calyptorhynchus baudinii .
