These regulations amend the Commercial Tenancies (COVID-19 Response) Regulations 2020 to clarify the end of the emergency period, prescribe a class of small commercial lease for corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, and prescribe circumstances for section 9 of the Act.
Landlords and tenants of small commercial leases are affected. The regulations specify conditions under which protections for tenants under the Commercial Tenancies (COVID-19 Response) Act 2020 do not apply, particularly concerning insolvent tenants or those no longer eligible for protection.
