These regulations amend the Prisons (Prison Officers Drug and Alcohol Testing) Regulations 2016 and the Young Offenders (Custodial Officers Drug and Alcohol Testing) Regulations 2016 to update the definitions of targeted drugs by referencing the Medicines and Poisons Act 2014.

Prison and youth detention custodial officers are affected. The regulations update the lists of prohibited substances they are tested for, aligning them with the Medicines and Poisons Act 2014.
