These regulations repeal the Electricity Industry (Independent Market Operator) Regulations 2004 and provide for the winding up of the affairs of the Independent Market Operator (IMO), transferring its functions and dealing with its assets and liabilities.
The regulations affect electricity market participants and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) by dissolving the IMO and transferring its responsibilities. The Minister is granted powers to manage the IMO's residual assets and liabilities.
