These regulations amend the Electricity Industry (Licence Conditions) Regulations 2005 to introduce conditions for relevant corporations to purchase distributed energy from eligible customers with small renewable energy systems or storage, under approved contracts.
Retail and integrated regional electricity licensees are affected, as they must offer to purchase distributed energy from eligible customers. Eligible customers with small renewable energy systems or storage works can now sell excess energy back to the grid, subject to certain conditions and limits.
