Energy Operators (Powers) Act 1979

These by-laws amend the Energy Operators (Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation) (Charges) By-laws 2006 to allow the Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation to charge a permitted surcharge for credit and debit card payments, as defined by the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Consumers making payments to the Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation via credit or debit card will be subject to a surcharge. The Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation will be able to recover transaction fees associated with card payments.
