These regulations amend the Environmental Protection Regulations 1987 to clarify the definition of 'solid waste depot' by excluding refund points and aggregation points operating under the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007 from the calculation of waste quantities.
Operators of solid waste depots are affected, as the regulations clarify which waste storage activities are included when calculating the 500-tonne threshold for classification as a solid waste depot. Refund points and aggregation points are now explicitly excluded.
