📜 Environmental Protection Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2020
These regulations amend the Environmental Protection Regulations 1987 to prescribe certain proposals involving significant discharge of waste, emission of noise, odour or electromagnetic radiation, or petroleum activities involving hydraulic fracturing in existing petroleum authority areas as requiring assessment under section 38 of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
Businesses undertaking petroleum activities involving hydraulic fracturing within existing petroleum authority areas, or those that may cause significant discharge of waste or emissions, are affected. These activities are now prescribed as requiring assessment under the Environmental Protection Act 1986, potentially leading to increased scrutiny and compliance requirements.
