These regulations amend the Environmental Protection Regulations to prohibit certain single-use plastics and balloons in Western Australia. The changes are rolled out in stages, commencing January 1, 2022, and continuing through October 1, 2022.
Businesses supplying or manufacturing plastic items and balloons will be affected by the prohibitions. Consumers will need to adjust to using alternatives to the prohibited items. Accreditation authorities will be involved in certifying biodegradable products.
