These regulations prescribed the Fitness Industry Interim Code of Practice 2019 under the Fair Trading Act 2010, setting standards for fitness service providers. The regulations and code expired on 30 June 2019 and 1 July 2019 respectively.

Fitness service providers were required to comply with the Fitness Industry Interim Code of Practice 2019, affecting their conduct, disclosure requirements, membership agreements, and complaint handling procedures. Clients of fitness services were afforded certain protections under the code.
