📜 Health (Asbestos) Amendment Regulations 2017
Regulations19 Sep 2017 p. 488219 September 2017
Principal Act
These regulations amend the Health (Asbestos) Regulations 1992. They change the process for appealing a notice related to asbestos, replacing appeals to the Chief Health Officer with applications to the State Administrative Tribunal. They also allow local governments to delegate powers related to asbestos regulation to their chief executive officer.
Local governments are affected by the change allowing delegation to the CEO. Individuals and businesses receiving notices related to asbestos must now apply to the State Administrative Tribunal for review instead of appealing to the Chief Health Officer, potentially changing the appeal process and associated costs.
