These regulations amend the Juries Regulations 2008 to update the compensation process for jurors who lose income due to jury service. They increase the potential compensation and modify the application process.
Jurors who experience income loss greater than the standard fee due to jury service may receive higher compensation, up to $1,000 or more in cases of undue hardship. Summoning officers have increased discretion in approving higher payments. Jurors must apply within 3 months, but extensions are possible in exceptional circumstances.
