The Legal Profession (Solicitors Costs) Determination 2019 sets out the maximum hourly rates and instruction fees that law practices can charge for non-contentious work, replacing the 2017 determination. It also outlines the process the Legal Costs Committee undertook in making the determination.
Law practices are affected as the determination sets the maximum costs they can charge clients for certain legal services. Clients are affected as it influences the fees they pay for legal work. The determination does not override written agreements as to costs.
