These rules amend the Lotteries Commission (Authorised Lotteries) Rules 1996 and the Lotteries Commission (Instant Lottery) Rules 1996 to extend the payout period for lottery prizes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and introduce alternative claim methods.
Lottery players who won prizes during the specified periods (16 March 2019 to 15 March 2020 and the 'emergency period') have an extended period to claim their prizes. During the emergency period, claimants unable to present tickets in person can claim via email, post, or other electronic means.
