These rules amend the Magistrates Court (Civil Proceedings) Rules 2005. They relate to fixing conferences and hearings under sections 9, 26 and 49D of the Magistrates Court Act 2004, including use of the ECMS.
Parties involved in civil proceedings in the Magistrates Court will be affected by the changes to the process for fixing conferences and hearings. Approved users of the ECMS will be able to select hearing details for first hearings in certain circumstances.
