📜 Mutual Recognition (Western Australia) (Temporary Exemption) Regulations 2021
These regulations temporarily exempted Parts 2 and 3 of the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2018 from the Mutual Recognition (Western Australia) Act 2020. This exemption applied only to provisions relating to prescribed drinking straws, plastic bags, and plastic items as defined on 28 February 2023. The regulations were repealed on 1 July 2023.
Businesses and individuals operating under equivalent standards from other Australian jurisdictions were temporarily not automatically recognised in WA for prohibited plastics regulations. This affected businesses importing or selling items covered by the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2018.
