📜 Occupational Safety and Health Amendment Regulations 2017
These regulations amend the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 to update electrical safety requirements, particularly concerning work on electrical installations and in roof spaces. They define terms related to electrical work and introduce new obligations for employers and others to ensure electrical installations are de-energised before work commences.
Employers, main contractors, self-employed persons, and those controlling workplaces or access to workplaces are affected. They must ensure electrical installations are tested and de-energised before electrical work or work in roof spaces is carried out. Employees working in roof spaces are also affected, as they must not work unless the electrical installation is de-energised.
