📜 Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources (Hydraulic Fracturing) Amendment Regulations 2019
Regulations6 Sep 2019 p. 3198-2016 September 2019
Principal Act
These regulations amend the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources (Hydraulic Fracturing) Regulations 2017 to define and implement a ban on hydraulic fracturing in the Dampier Peninsula, exclude certain areas from hydraulic fracturing, and define key terms related to moratoriums and existing petroleum authority areas.
Mining and petroleum companies are affected by the restrictions on hydraulic fracturing in the Dampier Peninsula, near public drinking water sources, and in national parks. This may impact exploration and extraction activities in these areas. The public benefits from increased protection of water resources and conservation areas.
