These regulations amend the Residential Tenancies Regulations 1989 by deleting regulation 5AAA and inserting a new savings provision. The savings provision ensures that the deleted regulation 5AAA, which prescribed specific student accommodation, continues to apply to existing residential tenancy agreements for that accommodation until their expiry.

The primary impact is on providers and tenants of student accommodation previously covered by regulation 5AAA. While the regulation is deleted, existing tenancy agreements for that specific accommodation remain subject to its provisions until they expire, preventing immediate disruption to current arrangements.
