📜 Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition (Western Australia) (Temporary Exemption) Regulations 2021
These regulations temporarily exempted Parts 2 and 3 of the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2018 from the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition (Western Australia) Act 2007. The exemption applied to prescribed drinking straws, plastic bags, and plastic items as defined on 28 February 2023. These regulations were repealed on 1 July 2023.
Businesses and individuals who might have been able to rely on Trans-Tasman mutual recognition to operate in WA regarding prohibited plastics were temporarily unable to do so. This affected businesses importing or selling items covered by the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2018.
