Tender description
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), Parks and Wildlife Service manages biodiversity, environmental protection and visitor services for the area commonly referred to as Edel Land that includes Steep Point and is in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area (see map provided in section 2.13 of Schedule 2).
DBCA has a requirement for the services of an experienced Contractor to live on-site at the Ranger’s Complex to:
provide on-ground management of the visiting public; provide visitors with information; maintain and upgrade associated service infrastructure including camping areas, the residence, operations base and all out buildings; and undertake other land management activities as required. Edel Land is remote and the Contractor will require a high degree of independence, flexibility, practical skills and resourcefulness. The Contractor’s personnel should be accustomed to working without supervision and assistance for extended periods.
The Contactor will report to the District Manager, Gascoyne or delegated officer and requires contact with DBCA staff and community members including visitors, volunteers, neighbouring pastoralists, adjacent mining lease operators, Malgana people and Contractors. As a representative of DBCA , the Contractor will require considerable personal discretion and good public communication and negotiation skills.
