Tender description
The Department, on behalf of Western Australian Planning Commission, is seeking services of a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to assist in developing the primary controls and building design policy settings for the Design WA Stage Three - Medium Density project. The four high level objectives of the Medium Density project are: Understand the past and present situation in which medium density housing has been provided in Western Australia, including strengths, weaknesses and what has been missing; Improve the design of medium density housing by introducing new standards and considerations for all user groups to ultimately benefit residents and the greater community; Shift the design and assessment of medium density housing away from a compliance-based model to that of a performance-based approach that understands competing objectives, with a focus on improving outcomes; and Establish new delivery approaches to policy development and ongoing review in order to support planning reform and the design quality of housing options.
